Guinean president meets Chinese president's envoy - China News

CONAKRY, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Guinean President Lansana Conte and Chinese President Hu Jintao's special envoy, China's Minister of Land and Resources Xu Shaoshi pledged here Thursday to enhance cooperation in various fields to promote bilateral ties.

During their meeting, Conte said that the Guinean people have highly appreciated the sincere help China has offered to their country since its independence.

He said that the country attached great importance to Guinean-Chinese relations and hoped to reinforce their friendly cooperation in various sectors.

Xu extended Hu's heartfelt greetings and warm congratulation to Conte on this occasion.

Xu said that China-Guinea cooperation has yielded fruitful results since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 49 years ago.

The Chinese government cherishes its relations with Guinea and is willing to consolidate their traditional friendship, expand their pragmatic cooperation and enhance bilateral friendly relations of cooperation, said the special envoy.

Xu arrived here Wednesday for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Guinea's independence.
